If you're like me, one of the things you notice most about a kitchen, are the counter tops. We had a big task to complete with picking kitchen countertops as well as the bathroom vanity tops. Since all of the cabinetry is being custom made by Harton Hall, we have the opportunity to completely customize the size, layout and colors of all of our cabinetry.
Monica and I took a field trip to Armina Stone in Robinson to take a look around and get some inspiration. We met with the amazing Daniel (Dan the Man as I nicknamed him) to start picking out countertops. I was blown away by the selection! I wanted to go with quartz for the kitchen with the look of marble (indicative of the time frame of the home). Quartz is more durable and won't stain like Marble (think red wine in my clumsy hands) but given all of the original marble fireplaces throughout the house, I wanted to keep with that look in the kitchen.
For the bathrooms, I am going with a mix of quartz and marble. The Master bath will have marble for our looooooooong (think tons of storage) vanity and for our sons room. The girls will have a sparkly quartz top. Yes, I said sparkly. I'm glamming out their bathroom because I can. I'm channeling all of my super girly-ness into their rooms and bathroom and I'm sorry, not sorry.
So at the 9 week mark: Demo is complete, HVAC, electrical and plumbing are 90% roughed in, framing is complete, counter tops are selected, plumbing fixtures are selected, lighting is selected and tile is nearing selection..... stay tuned for more!
