6 Week Check In

We are 6 weeks into #revivingchestnut and renovations are well under way! With demo, we removed all the flooring, the ceilings on the first floor, (finding the future family room had 3 ceilings), removed all the interior doors, removed a fireplace, and 4 kitchens and bathrooms.

The HVAC company installed the trunk lines for air on the second floor and plotted out where they will run the lines for the first floor. The electrician ripped out all of the knob and tube wiring. The structural engineer, Bob Mason, inspected the house and based on his recommendations we installed sister joists throughout the ceiling of the first floor and removed the back staircase to give the house an open kitchen/living room.

As we started to open up the walls, we took another look at the overall floor plan and decided to flip the family room with the dining room. This will allow for the formal dining room to open to the kitchen (for us it will be more of an eat-in living room) and the family room to be cozy, sunken and with direct access to the covered deck.

We met with several kitchen designers and decided to work with Sara-Claire Bulger with Harton Hall. Sara-Claire is incredibly knowledgeable and her products and pricing are fantastic! I’ll be writing an entire blog post with video and pictures about that later……

We met with Nick at Don’s Appliances and picked out the appliances. Don’s Appliances is one of our partners on this project so we will provide lots of details and video on that process later on but let me say I LOVE the appliances he recommended.

This week is all about framing! This is an exciting time because this is when the rooms really start to take shape. We spent weeks ripping this beautiful home apart and now we will begin the process of putting it back together.

Stay Tuned…..
